Project Title: Hazardous Waste Training on the U.S. - Mexico Border

Objectives:
The objective of this program was to provide the necessary training
for personnel engaged in both the manufacture and transportation of hazardous
materials (HM) and wastes. Specific objectives were: (1) To ensure
that workers engaged with HM will perform jobs at minimum risk; (2) To
ensure that workers in the transportaion of hazardous wastes will minimize
the risk of tranportation accidents; (3) To enable emergency response personnel
to perform their jobs in a safe manner, (4) To provide a basic program
for future outreach to other border cities;
Two pilot training programs provided for: (a) 5-day Hazardous Waste
Worker and Emergency Response Training Course; (b) 2-day Hazardous Materials
Transportation Training Course in Nogales, Sonora.
