Objectives:
The purpose of this research was to examine the direct and indirect
effects of human activity on ecological and climatological conditions along
the Southwestern Arizona-Mexico border. The intent was to : 1) quantify
ecosystem properties at specific paired sites along the boarder that exhibit
differences due to human activity; 2) document the climatological differences
at tehse sites; 3) determine the relationship between the ecosystem properties
and climate; 4) model the feedback processes; and 5) describe trends in
ecological changes along this border region during the last 30 years.
