SCERP Project Number: AQ94-OF-12
Principal Investigator: Paul Ganster
San Diego State University
Goal: The project is designed to develop short, concise summaries of approximately eight SCERP FY1994 air pollution and related research projects.
Rationale: The summaries will be written in language that will make them accessible to non-specialists in the academic world, in government agencies, in the private sector, and in border communities. This project will allow SCERP to communicate with a larger, non-technical audience on several key border environmental issues that face border communities.
Approach: The SCERP Management Committee will recommend projects to be summariezed that are widely recognized for their applied research findings. Once a list is developed, the SCERP Chairman will collect the technical reports and turn them over to a technical writer to be summarized and edited. Once the draft summaries are completed they will be circulated to the principal investigators for comments. The final reports will be widely distrbuted in border communities and among interested agencies and individuals, as well as being posted on SCERP's WWW Homepage.
Status: The technical reports have been selected and the technical writer has drafted the summaries. The published summaries will be distributed during the summer of 1996.
Practical Use: The results of this research will be the dissemination of clear, easy to understand summaries of SCERP's applied border environmental research. These summaries will be used to raise the public's awareness of key environmental issues of the region, as well as make suggestions for public policy options to resolve these issues.
